The Henderson Chamber Education Foundation is excited to announce that they were presented with a $15,000 check on June 24 from International Paper. The funds will be used to support the Imagination Library program locally.
As a local champion, the Henderson Chamber Education Foundation supports the funding of the program through grants, fundraisers and personal donations.
The Chamber Education Foundation submitted a grant application to International Paper in April 2020 and received notice this past week of receiving the $15,000 grant. The Chamber Education Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) charitable foundation that supports the Imagination Library program and other educational initiatives in our community. Every child enrolled in the Imagination Library program receives high quality, age appropriate books every month from birth to age 5. The current enrollment of children enrolled in Henderson County is 1,401. It takes about $45,000 a year to provide books for our children. Donations for Imagination Library are accepted online at hendersonkychamber.com or by mail to:

“We are so very thankful for grant opportunities and appreciate International Paper for supporting this wonderful program in our community,” states Henderson Chamber President Ellen Redding.
Devin Johnson, Human Resources Director at International Paper, Henderson facility will present Ellen Redding and Leslie Hoskins with the $15,000 check for Imagination Library on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 9:30 am at the Henderson Chamber office.
“Many people are under the misconception that books that come from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library are free. They are free to the children’s families, but the community supports the program through a local non-profit agency. Henderson County Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation is that agency,” states Leslie Hoskins, Henderson Chamber Education Foundation Board Member.
Henderson County was the first county in Kentucky to offer the Imagination Library program in 2003. The Henderson Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation has been the local community champion for Imagination Library since 2006 after the I Am Your Henderson Child organization dissolved.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth until they begin school, no matter their family’s income.
